I was born in Moscow to a Russian mom and Cuban dad. When I was eight years old, my family moved to the US and we settled in Southwest Florida. But I dreamed of living in a big city once again, so I set my sights on New York City.
After high school I attended New York University, where I double majored in Journalism (with a concentration in magazines) and Dramatic Literature and received my cum laude Bachelor of Arts in May 2007.
Since then, I have interned and worked in women’s magazines and am currently an online editorial assistant at Family Circle. I am also a freelance writer and healthy living blogger who has recently completed a certificate in Digital Journalism through MediaBistro.
If you’re interested in finding out more about my work experience, please feel free to take a look at my resume or writing clips. For a better grasp of my voice and natural writing style, you can also take a peek at my healthy living blog.
After loosing 100lbs, my passion for food, nutrition and wellness led me to the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, where I am currently working on a certificate in holistic health counseling. Afterward, I plan to add “part-time health coach” to my resume.
When I’m not writing, I’m reading anything I can get my hands on, whether it’s magazines, books, or a newly discovered blog.
If I’m not at my computer or burying my head in a book, I am often in my kitchen working on a new recipe. I’m a newly discovered foodie who loves to cook for my friends. I hate to make the same recipe twice and am always playing around with ingredients and converting recipes into much healthier versions.
But more than that, I deeply love my city and you can frequently find me discovering new things to do here. Whether it’s rushing for Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark tickets (before it was postponed for a third time), discovering a new restaurant before seeing Romeo & Juliet at The Met Opera or participating in a mass pillow fight in Union Square, I am always on the go in my favorite city in the world.
Whether it’s reading, writing, cooking, shopping, dating, hanging out with friends, watching my favorite TV shows (because I do enjoy my down time as well), relaxing with my kitty cat, traveling or exploring NYC, you will almost never find me sitting still.
And I love to write about it all.
